The caterpillar came to life
He thought it his was fate
His home was in a leafy bush
His appetite was great
He ate and ate and grew and grew
And soon he was quite fat
His siblings ate this same green bush
And sometimes stopped to chat
His destiny alluded him
The banquet was so great
His manners were impeccable
No talking while you ate
As time progressed, he never stopped
And yet he did mature
His instinct told him there was more
Yet no one knew for sure
He started acting very strange
But so did all the rest
In fear that he had gone insane
He passed things off in jest
The silk glands in his fuzzy tail
Began to spew forth thread
And while this feeling dazzled him
He thought he’d end up dead
And then one day he did confide
He said he knew not why
He knew his mind must be possessed
He had this urge to fly
