Out there he stands so proud and all
And yet he’s only one foot tall

He knows he’s cute and struts the lot
His coat so black with one white spot

His legs designed for thrice their length
He’s six feet tall with inner strength

With long black head and shaggy tail
He loves the girls, a purebred male

When he sits up to plead his case
He says it clear that he’s an ace

He loves all dogs, a friendly sort
How big they are has no import

His big dark eyes will win the day
But kids and cats should stay away

While filled with love beyond the brim
There’s still no fight to big for him

He gives and cares and shares with all
To be so free fulfills his call

His eyes do speak in every way
There is so much he wants to say
(continued)

He knows the words both large and small
His wisdom he imparts to all

And in return a loving hand
The strength and softness from the land

He shares his strength as mavericks will
From depth to height with greatest skill

His inner soul he shares with pride
His karma comes from deep inside

But he shares best with those who know
The inner soul of each rainbow

On mountain tops, he still looks up
From higher power he longs to sup

He’s blessed my life for many years
In greatest growth or even tears

One can’t deny his inner thrust
He seems to say in God please trust

He never takes for taking’s sake
But shares the crest of life’s great wake

He’s left his mark on those he’s met
He’s more than just a special pet

How’s Captain is a common plea
“Say Hi to Captain, please for me”
