That those with freckles have a gift
Is known to very few
Since those without would soon demand
To be included too

Kathleen explained to me one day
A fairy did exist
Whose special task through out its life
Young children to assist

We all remember as a child
Bad dreams we’d have at night
Our parents knew this when we cried
They’d try to make it right

The freckle fairy had a job
To watch for this event
When such occurred, she’d rush right in
And soothe the great torment

A tiny kiss was all it took
To take away the fear
And where she left that tiny kiss
A freckle would appear

But since there was but one of her
She couldn’t tend to all
She picked the ones she liked the best
Her favors to befall

So if I saw a freckled face
I’d know quite instantly
The freckle fairy was their friend
How special they must be

She said not who discovered this
In books it must be found
No credit do I take at all
But pass the word around
