The Lord was smart when he made us
and still we raised an awful fuss.
He made our lives just like a cup.
But we told him we’d fill it up.
Now from that cup we looked around
To see what beauty did abound.
To float would give mobility
There was so much we had to see.
Outside that cup both day and night
We filled our pond with all our might.
The biggest pond, the greatest fame
Material wealth became our game.
We soon find out we’ve no control.
The wind and waves assumed that role.
At first it’s fun as off we go.
so much to see, so much to know.
One day we want to holler stop
For once we’d like to be on top.
And then we see the forces there
Outside our reach, it is not fair.
We now must change this outer bond
And set about to drain the pond.
No longer do the waters churn.
Our lives no longer toss and turn.
We start to fill the cup within.
A whole new life we do begin.
How easy now becomes our task,
For to receive we simply ask.
The more we fill, the cup expands
We’re not constrained by finite bands.
The ache within begins to cease
The heart knows now the inner peace
